How do I start using Yiru? Three steps — and turn on notifications
Yiru needs no app download and no app store. Open app.yiru.com in your phone's browser, log in with your email, add it to your home screen, then turn on notifications — three steps and you're ready. Without notifications, reminders don't arrive on time. It's free for employers and helpers (maids).
Step 1: open the link and log in with your email
- Open app.yiru.com in your phone's browser.
- Log in with your email: enter your email, tap “Send code”, then type in the 6-digit code you receive. Your first login creates your account — there's no separate sign-up.
Step 2: add it to your home screen
- iPhone: open it in Safari, tap “Share” at the bottom, then choose “Add to Home Screen”. If you logged in inside Safari, you're still logged in when you open it from the home-screen icon. After that, as long as you open it at least once every 90 days, you won't need to log in again.
- Android: open it in Chrome, then tap “Add to Home screen” in the menu at the top right.
From then on, open it from the home-screen icon, just like any other app.
Step 3: turn on notifications (don't skip this)
- Tap “Turn on notifications” at the top of the Today page, or tap “Me” at the bottom and switch on “Receive notifications”.
- When your phone asks whether to allow notifications, tap “Allow”.
- Then, in the Notifications section of the Me page, tap “Send a test” to check that your phone receives it.
Reminders and messages from your family and your helper all arrive as notifications. If you add it to your home screen but don't turn on notifications, setup isn't finished.
Your helper's phone needs the same steps
Send your helper the invite link. After she logs in, she follows the same three steps, and the app appears in her own language. Each phone turns on notifications once: if she changes phones or logs in on another phone, she turns them on again there.
If notifications won't turn on
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| The switch won't turn on (iPhone) | Add it to your home screen first, open it from the icon, then turn on notifications. iPhone needs iOS 16.4 or later; a page opened directly in Safari can't receive notifications. |
| You tapped “Don't Allow” earlier | Turn it on in your phone's settings. iPhone: Settings › Notifications › Yiru. Android: press and hold the icon › App info › Notifications. |
| Notifications are on but nothing rings | Check whether Focus, Do Not Disturb or battery saver is limiting the browser. |
| On a computer | Computers don't receive notifications, so the switch is greyed out; everything else works as usual. |
FAQ
Does it cost anything?
No. It's free for both employers and helpers.
How many phones can receive notifications for one account?
Turn notifications on once on each phone. A phone receives notifications for one account at a time; if you switch accounts, the notifications switch to the new account.
